Phantom Bullion
2006 bay colt by Bully
Bullion out of Dinah
Bug, a producing own daughter of Bugs Alive in 75. He is an awesome
looking stud prospect who inherited his mommas size. Lance Graves bought him
at the the Lance Graves Futurity Sale. Scott Bacon started him and he
had a pretty good pattern on him then. We certainly wish Lance and
Phantom Bully the best in the 2010 futurity year.
Update 5/24/10:Phantom
Bullion running 14.579 at LG Pro Classic
Lance and Phantom Bullion win the Sale Futurity Average at the LG Pro
Classic, Phantom Bullion is now owned by Guy Peixoto Jr of Brazil.
Lance and Phantom Bullion place in the 2D at the Southern Rebel Barrel
Futurity
Lance and Phantom Bullion placed in the 1D at the WB Ranch Futurity
Sweet
Bully Bay
Sweetie is a 2003 daughter of Bully
Bullion. Roger Jones bought her from us just after she turned two
years old. He got her started and exhibtioning well as a three year old. She
got sick during that winter and she didn't get to do much. Roger took her to
Ft. Smith after just a few rides and ran a 17.5 there. As of Dec. 2007 she is
running 1D times in the TN area and doing well.
Charlie Nick Bar
Charlie is out of the great mare St Rose and is a half brother to FHF
Marthas Rose and Mr Dumas Walker, winner of over $100,000 barrel
racing. Scott and Dee Bacon started Charlie for us. Just after 2006 Fort Smith
Futurity Chris Coffey took over the training.
So far Charlie has been inconsistent, but when he gets it together for a
run he is as good as anything out there.
At the 2006 Oklahoma City Juvenile Futurity he ran 16.2 the 1st day and had
1st barrel problem the second day which was just lucky enough to land him in
the 2D winners spot. His good runs are getting to be more often, it just
hasn't been when the money is on the line yet.
FHF
Marthas Rose
Martha started on the racetrack with blazing breaks from the gates. We
started her three times and all three times she was at or near the lead for a
150 yards or so. Not great for racing but we knew were it would help!
Scott Bacon started Martha on barrels for us and rode her until late summer
'05. She then went with Kay Young for a little while and won the 2D in the 2nd
go at the Oklahoma City Juvenile Futurity.
Chris Coffey took over from there. It took Martha a little while to settle
down at the big shows. She didn't hold up too well at the Silver Cup, but
Chris kept telling me she works great at home. She did come around and
place 5th in the 1D out of 400 at the March Madness in MS and 12th in the 3
day average.
The Gold Cup was another tough show for Martha. Maybe she just doesn't like
it in Oklahoma. We considered selling our spot in the Ft Smith Futurity.
Glad we didn't sell that spot at Ft. Smith. Martha qualified 13th fastest to go to finals there
just missing getting into the 16's with 17.019. She had a tough go in the
finals, but she proved she do it in a big pen too.
Derek Hixon is riding Martha for us now and she placed 9th in the Jr Horse
Barrels at the Quarter Horse Congress on 10-21-06.
In Nov. Derek rode Martha at the Sho-Me Futurity in Columbia, MO. That is a
20 slot futurity. She ran what would have placed, unfortunately she slipped on
the 2nd barrel and when she jumped up she caught the barrel.
Derek Hixon bought Tall Dark N Nick Bar as a long yearling late in 2003. He
brought him along at just the right speed and since late in 2006 he has been
running in the 1D at Super Shows frequently.
Corkscrew
Kitty
Kitty is a beautiful palomino mare by Fire Water
Flit. Kitty started her
training with Scott Bacon also. She rode with Scott for most of a year
and was running barrels at a pretty fair clip.
Kitty went with Derek Hixon in early Dec. 2005. She had some down time
battling a hoof abscess. But Derek could finally get going her later in the
spring. She has only been to a small handful of shows, but just placed
in the 2D in the 1st go and the finals at the NBHA Mid-South Nationals held in
Memphis, TN June 30th to July 2nd, 2006.
We all expect her to keep on improving with more experience.
Update July 2006 - Kitty and Derek placed 4th in the 1D out of 160 at
Milan, TN and then later in the month they went to the
WBR in Guthrie, OK and ran 10th in the 1D out of 400 in the Saturday Night
Show which also put her 36th overall at the show with 1800 entries.
Kitty placed 8th in the 1D out of just over 200 in the open at the Indiana
Barrel Futurity on the 1st day. She kind of fell off her game the next and got
lucky in winning the 2D.
I don't think she knew what to do with the barrel setup at the Jud Little Barrel
Bash. She worked the barrels OK but didn't run too hard all the way and placed
in the 3D.
Derek and Kitty ran at the WBR Finals and placed 7th in the 2D at the Saturday
Night Show. This was 16th overall for Saturday night out of 450 and she ended
up 96th out 2500 for the whole show.
Derek won at Hartsville, TN on 1-13-07 the last time he rode her for
us.
Jami Simpton of Navasota, TX is now the proud owner of Kitty.
Frog
Hollow Flit
Frogger has been running and winning in the 1D all year long
in 2005. Here are just a few of his accomplishments:
Derek Hixon and Frogger won the 1D in Tenner, TX the last weekend in
January by 3/10th's and placed 8th in the Jr Barrels at the Ft Worth Stock
Show on Feb. 1
Derek and Frogger placed 2nd in the 2D Average at the Turn N Burn Futurity
April 2005.
Derek and Frogger placed 2nd in the 1st go at the Hawki Futurity in Oct.
2005.
We should mention that these were the only futurities Frogger was entered
in.
6/06: Derek sold Frogger in early 2006 to Jennifer Eisenbraun in Florida who is now
doing very well in rodeos down there. The last we talked to her she had run in
the Top 50 out of 785 entries at the 2006 FL NBHA State Show.
